Out of the Broom Closet
As Covenant of the Goddess (CoG) wrapped up their annual meeting – Grand Council at Merry Meet – I was reminded about a video that was created in 2016. The Orange County Local Council (OCLC) of the CoG was approached by Nathan Ross and Ryan Cernik, students at Cal Poly California who were producing a short video. This short film was produced in response to the California Religious Pluralism Project which is designed for college students to create a video explaining a new religion in California.
Out of the Broom Closet is a 9-minute video that encapsulates information about the Covenant but also steps into the realm of witchcraft. This video does not include all the diverse areas of Witchcraft but only the perspective from one of the coven leaders who is a member of OCLC. Mr. Ross approached Mary Stuart who is a member of OCLC CoG, to determine if there was interest in assisting with the making of his film. Filming took place in La Habra, California. After completion, and submission, Nathan was able to share the final product with us.
We are pleased to share this video with you.
“Out of the Broom Closet”
From YouTube: !!NOTE: Broom sticks and cauldrons are real! But they are not used to fly on nor used to create evil potions!!!! A documentary uncovering the truth behind witch craft. This short film was produced in response to the California Religious Pluralism Project which is designed for college students to create a video explaining a new religion in California.
Witch Craft and Wicca is rooted deeply in Pre-Christian European history, but societies opposition and assumption about witch craft and witches forced the Pagan practice to the fringe. Since the mid 1900’s the practice of Witch Craft and Wicca has reemerged in society and especially in California. Unfortunately many still to this day do not understand this Neo-Pagan new religion and still have assumptions about these people. This video was made by Ryan Cernik and Nathan Ross. Special thanks to Peter Hou and Patrick Soper for aerial footage, and a special thanks to members of The Covenant of the Goddess! We do not own the music in this film.
